The missions are open ended and allow you to explore different strategies if you ignore the time bonuses. Many ways to make and spend money early and easy to go bankrupt once you start buying higher tier goods.a few crashes and some glitchy early access things, but nothing that has kept me from having fun. Very solid core shines through.what I would like to see changed the most is an adjustment to the map so you can see the topography better. Too much guessing when trying to find the cheapest path between cities. 5 stars. I highly recommend this as a board game style railroad game. if you want the deep sandbox simulation, go with Soviet Republicnoteworthy soundtrack. Nice game, even with all it's imperfections. Finally factories don't give you cargo for free to transport them anyway you want. You need to purchase them. It's more realistic than in common transport games.Economy - 10/10Trains behavior - 8/10Tracks constraction - -7/10Overal 8/10Verdict: it brings something new to a transport games, but needs some polishing.. I've never understood the design philosophy that drives game developers to offer products (in partial development or complete) that punish their customers for not being as smart as they are. Note the term "customer" not to be confused with "competitor." If you are interested in matching wits and competing with the designers, this Early Access product might be for you. So far, I find this to be just another in a long line of games where your reward for purchasing and playing is to be sent back to kindergarten every twenty minutes or so. This is NOT, at least not now, a strategy/simulation game that immerses the player in the world of owning and operating railroads. It is a puzzle game, similar to Train Valley. In what world does it make good business sense to offer a game (Early Access or Complete) for purchase that doesn't allow the purchaser full access to the game? And it really is too bad, because there is so much to like about the product design. Clearly, a massive amount of effort and innovation has gone into the product so far. The graphics are crisp, clear, and realistic. The game mechanics are well thought out and easy to use. Interacting effectively with the game is smooth and intuitive. I've played every worthwhile attempt to improve upon the original Railroad Tycoon, and although all have failed to date (except maybe Railroad Tycoon II), this one actually looks promising. The developers have promised a "sandbox" feature in the not to or distant future. So instead of experiencing all aspects of the game build to date, and relaying constructive input to the designers, I'm afraid a substantial portion of the market will either not buy, or forego the puzzle experience until the sandbox release. The game already has a MIXED review, which will eliminate a big part of the market that won't take the time to read the reviews. This is too bad for a product with great potential. Puzzling decision on how this game has been released.Sorry, I can't recommend this game in its current form. Hopefully I can revise this review down the road if the builders open up their full product to their customers.. Every game I've played since railroad Tycoon has left a little bit of nostalgic longing for that experience. I have played the railway empire, Sid Meier's railroads, and some of the others that have come through in time. Being the reason that I play these games is for the experience of building a railroad and seeing the trains running, and immersing yourself in the world, most of these games will provide some form of entertainment for many hours, but the continual going back year after year is a hard thing to capture with just any railroad simulation game.I was excited for railroad corporation, and have only put in about two or three hours. I am liking what I am seeing I've read some of the negative reviews and people are being very critical of a game that is in early release. this game definitely shows a lot of promise and potential. The most obvious thing to me is that trains are actually affected by the cargo they Hall which is awesome, unlike railway empire where you seem to be able to put eight cars of anything behind even the smallest\/least powerful locomotive, in railroad corporation you just can't do that as the train will basically stall and clog up your rail Network. I also like the idea of a corporate headquarters \/ corporate office where you can expand it to do different things, it creates a lot of potential for the game. I have somewhat mixed feelings about the stations being situated the way they are, as in a covered looking house where the tracks run into versus a multi-track station system that has been used in the past by many games. However at the same time I understand that premise because oftentimes especially in a game like railway empire you get bogged down managing stations in at times even had to construct multiple stations in a city just to manage the amount of traffic which at the same time was also unrealistic. So this system may actually be better but maybe they should change the look of the station to make it look more like a terminal with yard tracks oh, but I am actually okay with this mechanism at this point. It looks like they've also laid the groundwork to have a signaling type system and the sidings I have built actually do seem to serve a purpose of trains running around one another. I am sure that's a mechanism that will be expanded on it some point once the other mechanics are worked out. There is no stock market at least that I've seen yet, but that was one of my most favorite aspects of railroad Tycoon so hopefully they implement some type of that system into this game as well. The industry system is great I like to see my products get taken from one industry to another and the work-in-progress taking place to produce a final product. I will continue to play and May update my review as I see fit but at this point I see this as a worthwhile investment in a game that has huge potential.. I like the more casual gameplay over the railway empire. Its not so complex and i dont need to completely dive in for days. But the problem is the campaign. It just rush you because of the time goals for complete missions. Please add more win goals and not only time.So i would not recommend this game for first..Please understand.. Recommending this because, in my view, I think it displays a lot of potential to become truly great. It's not without its problems and early build teething troubles but it's playable, though content limited right now. Has some interesting concepts and features that I think, once fleshed out fully, could add a good blend between challenge and complexity. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this develops as time moves along. Update 0.4.1 is out now.: Only one week after starting Early Access, we release our first update to the game. 'Railroad Corporation' is coming May 27th!: We're excited to announce that Railroad Corporation will be available via Steam’s Early Access program from May 27th!To get an exclusive first look at Railroad Corporation and to understand the unique features of the game, check out the brand-new gameplay video and step on board for a journey into the Golden Age of Steam.https://youtu.be/-baXiY5fb4E Featured in the gameplay video:. Update 01: Balance & Time Limits: Hi everyone! One of the most common concerns we received since the release from players is a time limit set in campaign missions. In this quick patch, No.01, we are tweaking these limits so players are not pushed too hard to finish the mission fast, but for those who manage to complete tasks fast enough; there's an experience bonus you can earn.To see these changes, let the game automatically update through Steam and start a new campaign from the main menu. If you're in the middle of a mission now, the next mission will also reflect these changes.Of course, there are other critical issues we see and we are working on them already, too. Still, we decided to release this fix to not delay its delivery of what we think will improve gameplay experience right away.We appreciate all feedback, especially during this Early Access period, and we will take all of your comments and suggestions in consideration to further improve the game. We have exciting plans for Railroad Corporation in Early Access and we'll have a roadmap to share, soon!Thank you for your support!Love,The Corbie Games team.
